At Winona Gospel Church our desire is to bring glory to God by obeying the command that Jesus gave in Matthew 28:19-20:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold I am with you always to the end of the age.”
Obedience to these instructions is the task of every person who calls themselves a follower of Jesus Christ.
At WGC we focus our energy in helping make disciples in three ways through:

Worship – Worshiping our Saviour

Our life is to be one in which everything we do and say is an act of worship which brings glory to our Lord. We believe that the teaching of the Scriptures is key to plant the truth of God into people’s hearts. Every Lord’s Day we come together to sing praise to God in song and to present solid teaching from God’s Word. By God’s grace we strive to be faithful in teaching the truth and looking to the Holy Spirit to grow hearts and minds so that each one of us can bring glory to our Lord in every aspect of our life.

Work – Working for God

Once a person has trusted Jesus as Saviour, and started maturing in their faith they will want to respond to his gift of grace by serving Him. Jesus himself said, “Even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many. Serving is something that we are all called to do and it can take many forms. At WGC there are many opportunities for people to serve the Lord. Some tasks require special skills others just the desire, but there is something for every one to do from teens to the 90’s. To help people discover a specific area of service we offer some “classes”, to review your passions, skills, and special gifts and the opportunities where they can be used. These classes can take place at your convenience and opportunities are given to try out a few areas before making a final choice. When a person begins serving in the local church they begin to feel like this church is truly theirs.
Walk – Walking with the Lord
Every one of us lives immersed in a world that is sending out messages about life, morality, values, needs, relationships and goals. Literally thousands of messages are trying to influence us throughout every day. How do we know which message is the one to follow?
We believe that the Bible is God’s love letter to mankind and provides instruction on all aspects of life, so we can know what will please God and be best for us. To assist people to gain knowledge from the Bible, we provide small group Bible studies for all ages. Small Groups meet at the church, on Glover Road, as well as in many homes throughout the community. In a small group, a facilitator guides people through a book in the Bible, helping people to learn by interaction what it teaches. Each study includes a time of study, a time to care for one another and an opportunity to discuss issues in life as people get to know each other. It is within the small group that people’s lives are changed and where people at WGC receive care. The importance of teaching God’s Word is the focus of all of our programming for children and youth and young adults. The word of God helps us to develop a biblical worldview where we can make wise decisions and live life that will bring glory to God.
